My car was taken into AAMCO because of two sensors going out. I was told that my car needed a complete transmission rebuild and they wouldn’t know the exact price until they took the transmission completely apart. I said ok and a few days later received a call telling me that the price was $4700 with a list of parts that needed to be replaced. I asked for a print out outlining the parts that would be replaced and the price of each one. I asked the person I was talking to (Greg) if after this my transmission would be like new. He replied yes that it would be better than new. I also asked what kind of warranties they offered. Greg told me that it came with a one year or 12,000 mile warranty but they offer a 3year and a lifetime. But he also added in that no matter which one I decide to go with they were rebuilding my transmission to last a lifetime. Well first I was told that my parts were ordered and my car would be done in a week and I would be able to pick up on that Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. After not receiving any call from them on Thursday for an update I called them I was told that one of my parts had still not been delieved so I was looking at the beginning of the next week for pick up. I got off the phone frustrated because I was getting pretty anxious about getting my car back after two weeks.
So on Monday I called back again and still no part, Tuesday when I called they said the part had come in and I would be receivig a call for picking it up in the morning. Finally on Wednesday around 2pm (not in the morning) I was given a call that it was all ready. I asked Greg how it was driving and he said perfect. I picked up my car around 3pm it was driving great shifting smoothly and seemed to be fixed. Just around 2 and half hours later it began slipping and having all the same problems as before I took it in and $4700 later. Once again I was sitting waiting an hour for a tow from the other side of town. I showed up in the shop at opening the next day extremely pissed off that their work of 2 and half weeks only lasted 3 hours. I was told they would look at it immedialtly and would receive a call back that morning. Never received a call back that morning so I called them Greg told me that they were baffeled and they would continue to work on it. Around 2pm I deceided to drive by after not receiving any other calls from them. My car was parked on the side of the street so I called them to see what was going on he told me that they were working on it and looked to be an electrical problem. To me it looked like it hadn’t been touched. On Friday I called for an update and was still told that they did not know the exact problem and Greg would check with his mechanic for an update and get back to me. Hours later I received a message that they were still looking for the problem and it looked like it would be rolling over till Monday. So now its been 3 days and I still am without answers and a car. What am I supposed to do if this continues happening I have a trip planned for the begginning of November 2007 and really dont want to end up stranded some where. If anyone has any advice or answers please reply. Thank You
